I have a dream.
I have a dream that someday, we will all be able to teleport ourselves to work.
But until that dream comes true, we are stuck with rush hour traffic.
So I came up with a new dream – to make Rush Hour Fun by playing funny radio skits that people could listen to as they drive to and from work every day.
——-
Here is one of my favorite skits I wrote and produced for Rush Hour Comedy Radio. It’s called “Sugar Rehab,” although back then, it was called “The Addiction,” and it’s about what I imagine the world would be like if sugar was an illegal substance. Enjoy! (I used real voice actors for the character parts, too!)
If you want to hear the three complete episodes, you can listen to them on my Silly Side YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@sillysideproductions/videos
The back story to Rush Hour Comedy Radio:
I came up with the idea for Rush Hour Comedy Radio back in 2014 when I went to L to spend a summer there doing stand-up comedy, comedy improv, and comedy screenwriting.. The idea came to me after just a couple of days of dealing with the crazy traffic. (Gee, I wonder why? Lol.)
Anyway, I am a pretty impulsive person, so I put out an ad calling for screenwriter skits for Rush Hour Comedy Radio, and I got quite a few. One of them was from a screenwriter named Tina Wake, and after we finished developing her script for the radio, she got it on the radio in Australia! Way to go, Tina! 🙂
Unfortunately, I never got an episode on the radio here in the US, but in 2020, I finally made three episodes and put them on You Tube. I still think the idea could work, but I think it would be much easier to have a cast of improv comedians doing it live from a studio every day…which is what I had originally planned on. So who knows…maybe someday I will be able to make that happen with the live studio and improv actors.
